Mindful Communication

How do we demonstrate mindful communication?

Focusing on the purpose of the moment; truly valuing others; being respectful, thoughtful, and intentional in everything you do: these are all essential components of mindfulness. But the first and most fundamental aspect of mindfulness is the way in which you communicate. Everything else revolves around communication, since it is the cornerstone of all instruction, training, collaboration, and interpersonal […]

Mindfulness and Mental Health

I have spent the last several months discussing how mindfulness can improve each area of our lives, and now I address the final area in which mindfulness proves to be important: mental health. Mental health is often the most difficult area to align, as the topic of mental health in general continues to be hidden in the shadows. Only recently have efforts been made […]

Mindfulness and Your Family

As we strive to align every aspect of our lives, this series now moves on to what is likely a sensitive topic for many. Family relationships are connections in life that you didn’t necessarily choose but find yourself engaging with on a daily basis. Last month, I discussed how mindfulness can improve relationships, and now, I want to address the more specific – […]

Mindfulness and Your Relationships

The art of alignment is about synchronizing every aspect of our lives, and little by little, creating a happier and healthier self. This holistic approach emphasizes how mindfulness can improve the overall quality of life, with a close analysis of five key areas. Last month we began our journey exploring how mindfulness can improve physical health. Now we gain insight into how mindfulness […]

Mindfulness and Your Physical Health

Last month, I discussed the importance of mindfulness in life. Because the art of alignment lies in synchronizing all areas of our lives, integrating a gentle and consistent awareness to each area of our lives will, in turn, improve all others.

Mindfulness has an enormous and positive impact on our physical health. Increasing awareness towards our physical bodies subsequently encourages us to nurture a healthier […]

5 Areas Where Mindfulness Can Improve Your Life

I am a firm believer in the alignment of every aspect of life, as well as an appreciation for the moment. If one area is out of sync with the rest, the resultant dissonance has a detrimental effect on all other areas. With so much potential available to each one of us, daily mindfulness is an important tool in achieving our individual goals. Over the […]

Leadership and Personal Development: Why Every Business Leader & Entrepreneur Needs It…Continually!

I have watched Ben and Julian build Body Local since they launched it six years ago at Reflections Yoga Studio (now Reflections Center for Conscious Living & Yoga). At that time, I was renting a therapy room at Reflections and would see Ben and Julian almost every day with a slew of young interns chipping away at creating what has blossomed into a thriving organization whose mission is to help fitness & wellness professionals build thriving practices.

Body Local made this leap because of its co-founder’s leadership skills and a “get it done” attitude. In my opinion, the # 1 success principle for a continually thriving and growing business is, without question, one’s ability to lead and one’s commitment to ongoing personal development.

One has to answer the call…

I am writing to you on this day, Sunday, January 24, 2016 because Inspiration, with a capital “I,” hit me upon awakening and, well, I had to share. Today is also the day of my birth and I cannot help but remember my amazing mother who brought me into this world. She passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 4:33pm in my arms. For me, this was a huge blessing.

First, what a powerful beginning to 2016! I don’t know about you but this year has already proposed itself as a huge opportunity for personal growth, expansion and most of all, “Deep Work.”

Over the years and as an avid student, I have been fond of working from a deeper place. What I mean by this is that I’ve always loved to work from a place that requires some serious sit-down time; a place where one has to focus, introspect, ponder and reflect.

Today, I realize how non-coincidental it is that I own a practice that requires for me to perform “Deep Work” on a daily basis. The very word, “practice”, implies on-going action in which one gets to perfect, advance, enhance and evolve her work.

What Works 100% Of The Time

As a practice, before I begin to write my newsletters, I take the time to read a special “writing” prayer that ends with, “Help me be a force for good with my words.”

I love that because it allows me to write from a place of non-attachment to the outcome and full connection from my heart. It reminds me that what I am doing here is to share what I know in the hopes of spreading goodness in the world. I also realize that to a large extent, I am writing because my Spirit has something to share. I discipline my mind to take a back seat to allow my heart to speak so that I don’t mask what I really want to say for fear of being judged.

Ever feel that way…..fearing judgment from others?

That is the question!

Do you ever wonder what it means to be “in alignment”? It has become a very catchy word in all fields of personal fitness, pilates, and yoga. And the truth is, I believe that the term is appropriate for all of these disciplines.

This being said, the distinction with Art of Alignment and other alignment programs is that we offer the possibility of alignment in three […]
